Coffee bean roaster causes apartment fire
Thursday, October 18th, 2007A central Scottsdale student was displaced out of his second-story apartment after a fire broke out in the kitchen area. Several nearby residents were also displaced as a precaution.
The blaze started around 2 a.m. in the ‘Scottsdale Serento’ complex.
The apartment owner left another friend at his apartment studying, and returned to find fire and police units in front of his home.
The friend in the apartment told ABC15 that she smelled smoke and checked the kitchen area, and noticed a “coffee bean warmer” had caught fire.
I think they mean a coffee bean roaster.  Those things can collect some oil. I am betting it smouldered for a bit before it ignited. I think my device would have prevented the fire.
