Fire damages Marlow office

Smoke billowed out of the Bucks and Berks Employment Agency office damaging the first and second floors of the building.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a defective photocopier.

Lots of copiers are installed beneath storage shelves. That shelf would be a good place for my power strip, just in case the copier gets left on overnight and starts smoldering.

Alamance County, NC — A copier might have caused a fire that damaged an Alamance County church. Fire investigators believe the machine malfunctioned Monday night.

The fire spread through an office and classrooms at Long’s Chapel Christian Church. The church is on NC Highway 49 North, near Green Level. The fire marshal does not have a total estimate on damage, but believes it could be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The sanctuary has some smoke damage. Flames, smoke and water destroyed parts of the classrooms and the office.
